Deacon Pat Heffner serves as a Permanent Deacon at Saint Miriam. She was born in the East Falls section of Philadelphia to the late Robert and Helen Heffner. She is the youngest of five children. Deacon Pat was raised Protestant, but at the age of 19 years, she converted to the Roman Catholicism through RCIA. She was received at Saint Bridget’s Parish in Philadelphia. Deacon Pat went on to explore many different religions and cultures over her spiritual journey. Deacon Pat studied Human Services at Chestnut Hill College and is currently the Director of Life Enrichment at Simpson House. She always felt a calling to the ministry and after her first visit to Saint Miriam in that small chapel in the rented space of the Jewish synagogue where the parish began in late 2008, she knew she was home. Deacon Pat studied for three years and was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in May, 2012. Deacon Pat lives in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia with her partner Bridget.
