Dear Families,

This is certainly a challenging time and it is with a heavy heart that I am writing today. As you are aware, we were closed today to effectuate a thorough and deep cleaning of our entire facilities. The school, parish, and offices have all been disinfected and prepared for your return. Our contracted crew accomplished that by 4:00PM, and while added an unplanned expense for us, they did so on time and with little notice; we are grateful. Then, our Governor made the decision to close down all schools for within Montgomery County.

Therefore, Saint Miriam School, in accordance with the directives set by the Commonwealth, Montgomery County and the CDC, will be closed for the next 14 days. The current plan is for classes to begin again no later than Monday, March 30, 2020, as we wait for the Governor’s office to lift any restriction.

As always, your concerns and comments are welcome and encouraged. Please write to us directly at director(at)SaintMiriamSchool.com with feedback or questions. This is a very unique situation will certainly continue to develop and change over the next few days and weeks ahead. Please be confident that are monitoring closely and will share updates via email as new information relevant to our school becomes available.

Our administration offices will be open to keep us all on track and to help answer any questions. We will determine our hours by need and volume. We will, however, always reply to your emails and calls and handle any concerns.

Please join me in praying for the recovery of those impacted by this virus, as well as the medical professionals, support personnel, emergency and first responders, and family members supporting in their recovery. Please say an added prayer for the researchers and scientists working so diligently to curb the spread of the virus, and for the policy makers, and all those in our communities who are fearful and affected by this situation. Finally, please take a moment and check in on a neighbor or shut in. We are members of this community and we need to share our hope and care.

I realize this is an unprecedent step during an unprecedent time, but I join my leadership team in recognizing that we could not live with ourselves if we participated in any way that might cause a child, or caregiver, an illness or worse.

I remain,
Monignor +Jim

P.S. If you find a need, or a neighbor without resources or food, please also let us know. We can offer some support. After all, we are all family today.
