We are designated as “Wave One, Group C” which tentatively places our Infant and Daycare to open June 8th, 2020 at 7:00am. Please note that we will adjust these timelines based on the most current advice to ensure the safety of our students and faculty.  Below are the Staff and Student procedures and policies we are putting in place to ensure everyone’s health and safety.

COVID-19 Saint Miriam School Reopening Policy – Students

Eligibility to Return –

  • Students must be in good health
    • All children must be Fever free (a temp no higher than 100.4), have no Respiratory Symptoms, or Sore Throat for the 7 days prior to returning to school
    • All children must be up to date on all vaccines
      • Should a child receive a booster or regularly scheduled vaccine please bring copy to school after receiving vaccine


  • Parents will check child in using KidCheck App on their phones and complete the check-in upon arrival at the Administration door
  • Parents will bring child to Admin Door where Staff Member will greet child and take temperature with no-contact temporal thermometers
    • Staff will wear proper PPE to perform temperature check (disposable gloves & cloth mask)
    • Should a child have a temperature of 100.4 of higher, child will be not be permitted in school and will be sent home to quarantine
      • Child may return when they are symptom free for 7 days
    • Should a parent need to enter building they will be allowed as far as the check-in room
      • No parent is allowed past check-in room or half door or into any classroom • All parents will be required to wear masks if entering building past Admin Entry
      • No siblings are allowed to enter building to assist in drop-off


  • Parents will use KidCheck App on their phones to indicate that there child has been picked pp
  • Parents will ring doorbell, and staff member will greet them
  • Staff will retrieve child from classroom, assist with packing child up and escorting child to door where parent will wait
  • Parents should wear masks if entering building to pick child up
    • No siblings are allowed to enter building to assist in pickup
  • If line of parents forms during peak pick up times please leave at least six feet space between parents

Sending a Child Home Early

  • Child will not be permitted to stay for school if initial temperature check is 100.4 or higher during check in
  • If a child develops symptoms during the school day they are subject to being sent home and quarantining
  • Symptoms include:
    • Cough
    • Runny Nose
    • Sore Throat
    • Fever (100.4 or higher)
    • Increased fussiness or irritability
    • Inconsolable crying
  • Child identified with any symptoms will be removed from classroom to the Library for isolation until pick up can be achieved
    • Other children will be relocated to another classroom to permit cleaning
    • Temperatures of all other children will be rechecked and documented
  • Staff will do an initial cleaning of all toys, and hard surfaces
  • Staff will open windows for circulation
  • Admin will notify cleaning crew and inform of classroom(s) and Library with potentially sick child and thorough cleaning will be completed that evening following CFOC (Caring for our Children) Guidelines.

Additional Guidelines

  • Staff handling infants will not handle food preparation or lunches
  • Lunches will be pre-made and placed in individual student lunch bags; no additional food preparation will be permitted until fall “green” code occurs by Governor’s Office

COVID-19 Saint Miriam School Reopening Policy – Staff Members

Note: Must be Signed by All Staff Upon their Return to Work

Staff Member Policy to Return to Work

  • Health Guidelines for Saint Miriam School Staff Members
    • All employees must be up to date on Flu Vaccines for 2019/2020 Flu Season
    • Staff members with Respiratory Symptoms (cough, runny nose), Fever (fever defined as 100.4 or higher), and Sore Throat are subject to being sent home
    • Before allowed into classrooms ALL staff will have temperature checked, and screened for Respiratory Symptoms
    • Staff members with high-risk medical conditions should remain on furlough until code ‘green’ status is given by Governor’s Office
    • If staff member is sent home, they must quarantine in place for 7 days
      • Staff members must monitor and document any and all fever and submit documentation before to returning to work
      • Staff members may return to work 7 days after symptoms have resolved

Health and Hygiene While at Work

  • Staff will be encouraged to wash hands frequently with soap and water
    • Hands should be washed after every diaper change (even if wearing gloves)
    • Hands should be washed before and after helping students with lunches
    • Hands should be washed after playing outside and changing classes
  • When appropriate teaches are encouraged to social distance in classrooms between Leads and Aids
  • Temperatures will be checked upon arrival to work, and 2x during the day and documented

Child Care for Teachers

  • Children of Staff that regularly attend Saint Miriam School are welcomed back
  • Older Children of Staff that are not students of Saint Miriam School are not allowed to accompany parents to school
    • An alternative plan will be added as available and if needed.

Additional Guidelines for Teachers

  • Infant care staff should use protective barriers such as large, overused button long sleeve shirts when handling infant/child care and hair should be above collar in ponytail or other updo Soiled linens of staff items can be washed onsite in the lower level washing machine nightly
  • No open food, open containers, or open coffee cups etc permitted in classrooms
    • All drinking containers must contain closed lid
    • No straws are permitted in classrooms for staff use
