Sacred Spaces

At Sacred Space: Kensington: A Dinner, Church, our primary mission is to provide spiritual companionship to men and women experiencing homelessness and addiction and who seek a non-threatening way to be with others in relationship, in prayer, and in community.

We are a housed people called by God into Christian community and ministry for the purpose of transforming all our lives of those currently un-housed. We draw on our resources to exemplify God’s preference for the poor and the marginalized to restore human dignity as we give voice to the voiceless. We respect the dignity of every human being and we see the face of Christ in ourselves and others as we gather for a simple shared meal, worship, and fellowship together.

Our gatherings begin with a shared preparation of a meal, followed by song, worship, and dialogue for anyone who wishes to attend. Singing, praying, reflection, and the Eucharist are offered and optional, never mandated. Those who attend share their stories, and a meal, then depart with a Blessing Bag from Saint Miriam to sustain them until we meet again.

Sacred Space: Kensington gathers in Kensington section of Philadelphia. We meet weekly at 5:00 p.m. at our location.
