Fundraising to Help Expose the Realities of the Death Penalty

A small, passionate team of independent filmmakers working to expose and spotlight one of the most morally troubling systems in our country: the death penalty.

Earlier this year, we released our 22-minute short film The Spiritual Advisor, which premiered on Rolling Stone and Documentary+ and reached thousands of viewers nationwide. The film has received strong critical response and screened at churches and community organizations across the country. The Spiritual Advisor follows death row chaplain Jeff Hood as he travels to Oklahoma to fight for a stay of execution for inmate Emmanuel Littlejohn — and to be in the room with him, holding his hands and praying when the execution occurs.

We are now developing the feature-length version of the film, which has the potential to reach hundreds of thousands of viewers and spark meaningful national conversation around the morality and legality of capital punishment. Executions have sharply increased over the past year, alongside the introduction of new execution methods, including firing squads and nitrogen hypoxia — a method critics compare to suffocation.

To bring this feature to completion, we are currently raising $15,000 to complete the first phase of editing and produce a trailer that will allow us to begin pitching the project to streamers, broadcasters, and grant organizations. This is a rare opportunity to become part of the film team and help support a project with real social impact.
