We have all suffered tremendous losses and the church has incurred tremendous and unexpected expenses to keep us here and vital. A EOY Letter from Monsignor Jim and Help Us Make a Difference Where it Counts!

Dear Friends, Blessed Christmas Season! I am continuously overwhelmed by your consistent generosity, and I’m genuinely grateful for your unceasing prayers and support. My hope is that Saint Miriam has been a helpful resource throughout this year in drawing you closer to Christ. Therefore, my first job here is to thank you for being so giving! Your generosity has literally saved lives, improved education, given respite and allowed inclusive worship! Despite the pandemic, we have managed to remain alive and are now thriving again. We are seeing parishioners and friends return to regular worship and we all should be grateful that God’s providence has called us to return home! Our Outreach to those in need continues to grow as well! Currently we have increased our capacity for storage on our main campus and serve an average of 5,800 guests monthly at three sites located in Kensington, Love Park, and a ‘rolling venue’ from the Ben Franklin Parkway to Center City locations! We have much to be proud of! Yesterday, I continued our meetings with the County to open the region’s only Franciscan-based residential housing units on our campus for those in need of transitional housing! Once open, we will continue our vital efforts by adding a residential option to those in greatest need on a ‘housing first’ concept where no predetermined hurdles will be imposed. In other words, we will treat them as ‘humans first’ and provide the basic necessity of a home to support them in their journey toward independence! Our school, the region’s only Franciscan S.T.E.A.M.M. School is literally busting at the seams! We opened three new classrooms this year and over the winter break we will expand a forth! It is amazing what we can do together to support those in need of a quality education. There are full scholarship options, thanks to your generosity, so no child is left with less than that desired educational goal. And we are also the only school with both a Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia registered pediatric nurse and certified life specialist on staff! Our Falls Retreat Center in Starlight will hopefully open again in spring to a post-pandemic world. We pray that this beautiful 60+ acre property will be a haven for those in need of respite! Again, none of what we accomplished during this year could have been realized without your regular generosity. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely on your financial contributions for our outreach, parish, liturgy, school, and retreat efforts to thrive! Saint Miriam School Partners with Albertson’s ACME
We are proud to announce that Saint Miriam School has been selected as a charity partner for Albertson’s ACME and will receive grant donations from its annual Nourishing Neighbors Campaign aimed at helping ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast. Every child enrolled at Saint Miriam for the entire 2023 year (including Summer Camp) will receive a healthy, nutritious breakfast every single day! Albertson’s Foundation, is working to eradicate childhood hunger in America. With as many as one in four children in America at risk of hunger, the funds raised in September will be dedicated to local efforts that ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast. “Breakfast is essential school supply for kids to learn, grow, and thrive,” said Brother Sean, School Director. “We’re grateful to support the important work of community partners like ACME. Together we are making our neighborhoods better places for our children to grow up.” We are excited about this next grant received and look forward to bringing more opportunities to enhance our already wonderful learning programs and school environment! Update: Dear Parents, Staff, Board & Volunteers, As promised, Saint Miriam received a grant from Nourishing Neighbors grant from ACME Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors September fundraising campaign for $3,000! During the month of September, customers were asked to donate at the register to help provide healthy breakfasts for children. The grant is a result of these generous donations. Saint Miriam will use this grant to benefit the food nutrition program at Saint Miriam! We are grateful to Monsignor Jim for completing the grant application! Nourishing Neighbors is a charitable program of ACME Foundation. The program aims to eradicate childhood hunger in America by keeping food banks stocked and supporting meal distribution programs at schools. In 2020, Nourishing Neighbors enabled 350 million meals, invested $10.4 million in schools to feed children, and provided $9 million towards empowering black, Indigenous and people of color communities through hunger programs. We are ALSO very excited to share that Saint Miriam ALSO has been selected to benefit from the ACME GIVE BACK Bag Program, which makes it easy for customers to contribute to their local communities!! For the entire month of December, whenever a $3.00 GIVE BACK Bag is purchased at the ACME located at Acme Market located at 1640 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA $1 will be donated to Saint Miriam!!
